The Network Support team receives trouble tickets and service requests from across the organization. They support Sibley, Suburban, and all Maryland/DC/VA off campus locations, JHCP clinical locations, as well as home users, and affiliate offices. This includes over 80 off campus locations from Fells Point to Springfield, VA.

The Network Support team receives trouble tickets and service requests from across the organization. They support Sibley Hospital, Suburban Hospital, all Maryland/DC/VA off campus locations, JHCP clinical locations, as well as home users, and affiliate offices. This includes over 80 off campus locations from Fells Point to Springfield, VA.

Problem calls are wide ranging in scope and difficulty. The group handles connectivity issues for clinical care components such as scanners, portable computers, clinical workstations, radiology devices, tablets, pagers, security cameras, etc. They also handle less critical networked devices such as office computers, copiers, printers, cash registers, and parking gates.

Service request work also covers this geographic region, and diversity of connectivity. Simple connection requests, to major clinical construction projects, with several hundred devices are common. Technical staff are required to have knowledge of a wide range of devices, and connectivity methods, as well as network hardware. With over 500 network closets supported, installations and upgrades are consistently on the work schedule. The team is required to provide support 24x7 on-site support for all hospital operations.

This position is responsible for providing basic data and voice connectivity, as well as troubleshooting device issues for customers across the Johns Hopkins enterprise. Responsibilities include performing basic network switch and router configurations and installations, replacing printers and phone handsets, resolving data and voice jack issues, patching data cables, and interfacing with customers to understand their needs.

• Network switch configuration (VLANs, ports, uplinks)
• Installation of network hardware

Required Education: High School Diploma/GED. Additional experience may substitute for education.

Equivalency Formula: Related experience beyond minimum training experience qualifications may substitute for formal education requirement on a two years experience-for-one year education basis.

Required Experience: Four years of related experience.

Licensure/Certification: Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) preferred

  17. Demonstrated understanding of IP Addressing
  18. Strong knowledge of public vs. private IP addressing schemes
  19. Demonstrated understanding of WAN, routing techniques, and packet analysis
  20. Ability to articulate and explain the fundamental differences between layer 2 and layer 3 functionality
  21. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot simple IPv4 routing issues for routes located at remote facilities (small edge routers)
  22. Strong understanding of VLANs and demonstrated ability to configure and validate.
  23. Crestron systems experience preferred. Strong understanding of web based video conferencing solutions, Teams, Zoom, WebEx.
