Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center is seeking a motivated and team-oriented Physician Assistant I to join our inpatient orthopedic surgery service in a dedicated night shift role.
This position offers a unique opportunity for providers who prefer a consistent nighttime schedule while practicing at the top of their license in a highly autonomous and collaborative environment. The APP team plays a central role in managing orthopedic patients across trauma, total joint, and surgical subspecialties, with strong support from orthopedic surgeons and resident physicians.
This role is ideal for individuals seeking work-life balance through a condensed workweek, with the ability to work three consecutive night shifts and enjoy extended time off.
Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive overnight inpatient orthopedic care, including post-operative management and acute patient needs
- Respond to and manage overnight orthopedic consults from the Emergency Department (adult and limited pediatric population)
- Collaborate with orthopedic surgeons, residents, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care
- Manage perioperative patients overnight, addressing clinical changes and coordinating care plans
- Maintain clear and effective handoff communication with day team providers
- Support a team-based care model with shared accountability and collaboration
- Participate in maintaining high-quality patient outcomes in a fast-paced inpatient setting
Schedule:
- Full-time night shift position
- 3 consecutive 13-hour shifts per week (e.g., Monday–Wednesday, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Consistent weekly schedule offering 4 days off each week
- Night shift serve as in-house coverage.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
- NCCPA certification required
- Maryland State License (or eligibility) required
- DEA/CDS (or ability to obtain)
- New graduates are welcome to apply; prior orthopedic or surgical experience is preferred but not required
- Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and ability to work in a collaborative team environment

Salary Range: Minimum 58.03/hour - Maximum 89.94/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
