Are you a compassionate and dedicated nurse looking to make a meaningful impact in pediatric perioperative care? The Johns Hopkins Hospital invites you to consider joining our renowned Pediatric Preoperative and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit. As a 32-bed unit, we provide comprehensive pre- and post-surgical care to children from birth to 25 years of age, covering a wide range of surgical services including Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Plastic Surgery, ENT, Ophthalmology, Pulmonary, GI, Urology, Renal, Dermatology, and General Pediatric Surgery.
Our unit specializes in caring for surgical patients requiring anesthesia or sedation for procedures such as MRI, CT scans, interventional radiology, non-invasive radiology, and cardiovascular imaging and labs (CVIL). We operate 24/7 with dedicated staff providing uninterrupted care for up to four overnight extended surgical recovery patients.
Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive preoperative assessments and education to pediatric patients and their families.
Prepare patients for surgery, ensuring safety and comfort.
Deliver post-operative care, monitoring recovery and managing pain.
Assist with anesthesia induction, airway management, and vital sign stabilization.
Collaborate with surgical teams, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare providers to ensure seamless patient care.
Document patient care activities accurately and thoroughly.
Respond promptly to patient needs and emergent situations.
Maintain a safe, supportive, and child-friendly environment.
Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree in nursing (ADN) (Required)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) (Preferred) and applicants with an associate degree in nursing will be considered. Per nursing guidelines, must matriculate into a Bachelor of Nursing program.
- RN-Registered Nurse License (Required)
- CPR - Basic CPR (Required)
- Minimum six (6) months of nursing experience (Required)
- 1 year of nursing experience (Preferred)
- Prior pediatric nursing experience (Preferred)
- Prior pediatric perioperative care experience (Preferred)

Salary Range: Minimum 39.64/hour - Maximum 61.45/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
