The team in our Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) is dedicated to treating critically ill infants, children, teenagers and young adults who need the highest level of care. Our board-certified and board-eligible pediatric intensive care specialists provide care to patients 24 hours a day. The PICU team is specially trained in caring for children and supporting the needs of parents and families of children who are critically ill. A multidisciplinary team provides comprehensive care to address the patient's needs. Patients range in age from neonate to young adult. Patients are admitted to the PICU for a broad range of diagnoses and are admitted for many areas, including referring institutions.

Position Summary:

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) performs direct patient care tasks under the direction of the Registered Nurse and performs various tasks as competency documentation designates. Work occasionally requires internal contacts outside the work group to exchange relevant information. Communication with external contacts involves providing or giving factual information

Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma.
  • One year of clinical experience is required or successful completion of the intern program

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification, Medical Assistant (MA) certification, or one of the

    following:

    ▪ A nursing student or LPN who has completed fundamental nursing skills coursework

    ▪ An Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification

    o BLS certification provided by AHA

Salary Range: Minimum 17.37/hour - Maximum 26.91/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
