The Procurement Manager plans, directs, supervises, and coordinates all activities related to purchasing and inventory principles, assuring compliance with regulatory agencies and the policies and procedures of the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. Supervises and manages the purchasing staff. Controls costs and adheres to fiscal requirements. Builds relationship with the units that order products.

  • Ensures compliance with food safety, sanitation and overall workplace safety standards.
  • Consistently monitors operations, completes assessments and develops necessary action plans to provide optimal
    purchasing compliance.
  • Works with the Director and the AD of Culinary to determine adequate levels of inventory necessary for the efficient
    operation of the department, based on specifications and schedules.
  • Computes in a timely and accurate manner all financial aspects of the inventory and ordering process
  • Monitors financial and operating reports and formulates an action plan to correct deviations to business plan and
    budget
  • Manages the purchasing, receipt, accounts payable and invoicing of all related items for the operation of the
    department within delegated authority. Ensures accounts payable is current.
  • Purchases all food and non‐food supplies from approved purveyors that meet hospital specifications.
  • Coordinates product distribution services throughout the department, with emphasis on accuracy of product
    specification.
  • Maintains an ending inventory variation of less than ten days in inventory on a monthly basis.
  • Recommends new products, merchandising ideas and cost effective measures to appropriate managers.
  • Ensures that all CBORD purchasing and inventory principles are adhered to at all times.
  • Routinely inspects the food and non food products for HACCP and FIFO principles of storage.
  • Reports and explains any significant deviations from the food and non‐food budget.
  • Supervises, trains and manages performance of the purchasing staff.
  • Manages by providing positive and constructive feedback to employees in order to reward, coach, correct
    and motivate.
  • Supports workplace diversity.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Service Management or related fields
  • Five (5) years purchasing experience in a Major Medical Center or Institutional food service operation.

Salary Range: Minimum 32.44/hour - Maximum 56.79/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
