Full Time, Day shift (40 hours)
8:00 am - 4:30 pm
Work Location: Johns Hopkins - Surgical Pathology - Weinberg 2242 - 401 N. Broadway - Baltimore, MD 21231
Position Summary:
- Reports to the Pathology Lab Manager and operates under the direction of the Medical Directors.
- Coordinates all departmental activities to achieve established goals and objectives through subordinate supervisory staff.
- Performs gross examination of autopsy pathology specimens with limited supervision from an attending pathologist and the Pathology Lab Manager.
- Conducts specimen dissection, description, and tissue sectioning for histological preparation.
- Collaborates with senior management to develop departmental goals, objectives, operational policies, and procedures.
- Monitors and ensures compliance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures across all shifts.
- Oversees departmental operations and maintains adherence to quality and regulatory standards.
- Manages and administers the department budget.
- Performs additional administrative, professional, and related duties as assigned.
Education:
Graduation from a Master's Program with a Pathologist Assistant Training program and ASCP BOR certified (or ASCP BOR exam eligible)
or
completion of a Bachelor’s degree with a major or minor or equivalent in any of the biological or allied health sciences, and ASCP BOR certified or exam eligible is preferred. (Must meet minimum education requirements for high complexity testing per CLIA).
Work Experience:
Work requires 5 years of progressive laboratory experience to acquire a foundation of knowledge and familiarity with the scope of laboratory operations. A minimum of 3 years of supervisory or management experience is preferred.
Licensure/Certifications:
Must be a certified Pathologist Assistant (ASCP) or other pathology recognized certification.

Salary Range: Minimum 54.35/hour - Maximum 95.15/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
