Job Title: Social Worker
Department: Women’s and Infants’ Services

Preferred Education

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Sociology, Gerontology, Special Education, Rehabilitation Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong background in psychosocial assessment, crisis intervention, behavioral health support, discharge planning, and community resource coordination for maternal-infant populations.
  • Knowledge of postpartum mental health, trauma-informed care, social determinants of health, and maternal-infant care coordination.
  • Ability to assess patient needs and prioritize urgent, emergent, and routine psychosocial and discharge planning needs in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, staff, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including accurate and timely documentation and reporting.
  • Flexible, resourceful, and able to work independently while maintaining a calm, professional, and patient-centered approach.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical record systems, including Epic.

Preferred Licensure and Certifications

  • Active LICSW, LGPC, LGSW, or LCSW license in the District of Columbia.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Perinatal Mental Health Certification required within 12 months of hire.

Preferred Experience

  • 2–5 years of experience in psychiatric social work or counseling, with a focus on maternal-child health, behavioral health, crisis intervention, discharge planning, or care coordination.



Salary Range: Minimum 37.58/hour - Maximum 61.99/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
